New programmes for the Easter Schedule
Tuesday 10th March 2009
Radju Lauretana is proud to announce the following new programmes, which will be aired during the coming Easter Schedule. Ir-Randan: Religjon u Folklor (Lent: Religion and Folklore) will be aired every Wednesday. Anton F. Attard speaks about Maltese and Gozitan traditions related to Lent. Ghajnsielem fit-Tieni Gwerra Dinjija (Ghajnsielem during World War II) is another interesting programme. Every Thursday afternoon, Charles Bezzina speaks about World War II, its effects on the Maltese Islands, on Gozo and especially on Ghajnsielem. Interesting facts will be revealed for the first time on Radju Lauretana. Imhabba Mkenna (Protected Love) brings to our listeners the reality children and students live in church administered homes, young people who have to live away from their families because of particular family circumstances.

Every Saturday at 4pm, Maria Xerri visits a particular home in Malta, gives us facts about the particular institution and interviews the manager. We will be able to listen about St Patrick’s Home in Sliema, Fra Diegu Home in Hamrun and St Joseph Home in Santa Venera. Strumentali u … (Instrumental and…) is a programme of instrumental music. Between tracks, Antonella Grima provides short strories, interesting facts and …much food for thought. The magazine Ghajnsielem has been Ghajnsielem Parish Magazine for the past 50 years. A lot of articles have been published, interesting reading. It’s time now to go back, browse back issues and select articles worth revisiting. That’s what Lorietta Buttigieg does in her new programme Mir-Rivista Ghajnsielem. Nies Specjali (Special People) is another new programme on this schedule. Joe Bonett interviews people involved in voluntary work. This programme aims to bring to light volunteers who strive in helping others and many times their effort passes unnoticed. During Is-7 Kelmiet (The Seven Words), Fr Michael Borg speaks about the seven words Jesus uttered on the cross before passing away. Content includes interviews and life experiences. Every day during the Easter Schedule, Archpriest Frankie Bajada will deliver a small reflection based on the life, writing and teachings of Saint Paul. Bits and tits of information are the agenda of Qtar (Drops), presented and produced by Lelio Spiteri.

Classical music will be part of the radio station’s playlist. Maria Xerri conducts Klassici (Classical). Classical music is complimented with the contribution of a renowned guest who gives an insight into the lives of famous composers and their work. Melanie Cassar is back again with a new musical programme Mill-Album ta’… (From the Album of…). Melanie selects tracks from different musical albums. Interesting information adds colour to the programme. Saturday morning welcomes yet another volunteer on Radju Lauretana. Paul Stellini will be playing hits from the 80’s in The Fantastic 80’s. Sports has always been on the station’s agenda. Miguel Refalo will be back again with his Football Beats…is-Sibt (Football Beats…Saturday) and Football Beats…il-Hadd (Football Beats…Sunday). This time round, Miguel promises an upbeat programme with an overview on sports being played during the weekend. Local and international football results will be announced on the minute. Miguel will be assisted by Erica Buttigieg, another newcomer. Fr Joseph Farrugia talks about the sacrament of reconciliation in his new programme Niskopru l-Qrar. The station’s breakfast show Bongu mill-Ghajn will have a new format on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and on Easter Saturday.

Established programmes are on the schedule too. Radju Lauretana promises a rich schedule. We’ll be together on Saturday 28th March for test transmissions. Charles Portelli kicks off with his Bongu mill-Ghajn on Sunday 29th. No programme should be missed!
