| The Easter Schedule is Over |
| Monday 12th April 2010 |
Sunday 11th April 2010 was the last day of the Easter Schedule broadcast on Radju Lauretana. Once again, the three-week long schedule offered a varied genre of programs. Feedback received from listeners was so encouraging. The strong team did it utmost to produce and present high-level programs. New faces were present during this schedule. We welcomed aboard Silvio Grima, whose Saturday program Mill-Urugwaj sal-Afrika t’Isfel (From Uruguay to South Africa) was indeed a hit. With the help of Erica, Silvio managed to deliver concise but rich information about the story of the World Cup tournament. The program managed to stir a lot of interest from football supporters and non-fanatics. It was also a first for Dr Ann Marie Mizzi, who succeeded in keeping our listeners glued to their radio with her Stejjer ta’ Dawn il-Gzejjer (Stories of these Islands). Another new member of the crew was Joe Said, a member of the Society of Christian Doctrine who produced and presented Mill-Kitba ta’ Dun Gorg (From the books of Fr George), Fr George Preca the founder of this society and the first Maltese saint. Listeners were entertained to new programs, including It-Tigrija sal-Barkun (The Race till the End), co hosted by Margerita and David. Lelio (the radio’s strict director!!) was on air with his Impressjonanti! (I’m so Impressed!). David and Erica were with us every Sunday afternoon with Wara l-Ikla tal-Hadd (After Sunday’s Meal). Mary shared with us tits and bits of information in Niskata Taghrif (A Pinch of Information). Fr Joseph Magro with the help of Fr Twanny Chircop talked about the Holy Land in Fl-Art Imqaddsa (In the Holy Land). Ghajnsielem u l-Persunaggi Tieghu was yet another new program. Roseann was producer and presenter. We heard the voices of Chantelle and Janet in their 30-minute program EasterTime. Joe Bonett was back with his Thursday program Minn Qarrejja ghal Xandara (From Readers to Preachers). Dr Ray Bondin aroused so much interest during his program Nisget l-Istorja ta’ Artna (History of Malta). Laurie Ann, Mary and Manolita shared a story every day. Seher ir-Rakkont was met with both enthusiasm and interest. Radju Lauretana was busy transmitting all religious activities as part of the Holy Week festivities. Lenten talks were broadcast over the first two weeks. Joanne and Bishop Nicholas were present with our listeners every day during the Holy Week.
This was just the tip of the iceberg. If you missed a program, just click on the section Podcasts on our homepage and you can enjoy listening to this and other programs when you like.
After a brief rest, once again, the Radio Lauretana crew will start preparing for the next schedule which is planned to start on Saturday 5th June 2010. Highlights will include the live transmission of the feast of Saint Anthony of Padova, celebrated in Ghajnsielem Parish by the Franciscan Fathers and the much-awaited deacon ordination of Seminarian Samuel Grech. Till then, you can follow the latest news of facebook.
A big thanks to all voluntary staff and listeners. Thanks for being there! |
